Motivational speakers often describe leaders in the context of change and creativity. Therefore, people aspire to roles like change and/or creative leadership.
It is true that leaders’ behavior can influence change and creativity [for problem-solving] among people in an organization, but from my viewpoint, leadership is about the administration. Hence, business administration.
The main function for leaders is to use their rhetorical ability to assign symbolic cognitive structures to the people in the organization to direct their behavior to perform, learn, and to apply their inborn capacity for creativity in problem-solving.
These are some of the topics of the coming course ‘Leadership and organization' at the University of Helsinki, starting October this year.
