On the difference between Entrepreneurial thinking and social creativity for problem-solving and innovation

I'm a psychological scientist, especially in executive functions, work and organizational psychology. I have designed a leadership model which I claim influences generative learning, and social creativity. Here I define entrepreneurial thinking and social creativity, and argue that both are part of the executive functions. 2 pages.

I'm a psychological scientist, especially in executive functions, work and organizational psychology. (I also research nutrition psychology – how we think about food and how food influences how we think.)

I have leadership - organization at >10 universities in Finland and Sweden, and applied it as an executive coach.

I have designed a leadership model which I claim influences generative learning (Österberg, 2004), and social creativity for problem-solving and innovation (Österberg, 2012).

I also argue that the leadership model will influence entrepreneurial thinking.

But what is the difference between entrepreneurial thinking and social creativity for problem-solving and innovation?

Entrepreneurial thinking is about the “knowledge structures” that people use to make judgments and decisions that involve the evaluation, creation and growth of opportunities (Cacciolatti och Lee, 2015; Mitchell et al. 2002; Österberg, 2012).

Social creativity, on the other hand, is a mental process where unrelated knowledge objects, or fragments thereof, are combined or melded into new concepts (Wynn, Coolidge och Bright, 2009; Österberg, 2012).

I argue that both Entrepreneurial thinking and social creativity is part of the executive functions – a set of cognitive abilities that allow individuals to plan, organize, guide, regulate, and evaluate behavior forward in time (Ardila, 2008; Atance and O'Neill, 2001, 2005; Barkley, 2001; Coolidge and Wynn, 2018; Elliott, 2003; Galistel, 2017; Gilbert och Wilson, 2007; Kaku, 2014; Lezak, 1982; Liu et al. 2017; Moulton and Kosslyn, 2009; Pluck, Cerone and Villagomez-Pacheco, 2023; Pringle, 2016; Schacter och Addis, 2007; Suddendorf, Bulley, and Miloyan, 2018; Szpunar et al. 2014).
