Christine Baumgartner's relational aggressiveness made her lose a lot of money!

In May this year, Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce from her husband Kevin Costner. Their relationship lasted 18 years, and for thirteen of these years, they were married. Together they have three children, adding to Mr Costner's previous four children. And they had signed a prenuptial agreement (PA) which would earn Baumgartner 1.5 million dollars, and 127,000 dollars in child support every month. Baumgartner disputed the PA to demand more money. But greed doesn't pay off. After challenging the prenuptial agreement, the monthly child-support was reduced to 67,000 dollars. Relational aggression is a typical female phenomenon and is inherited from the mother. That is of course very tragic. On the positive side, there's a father effect on children's emotional and social adjustment and cognitive development. 3 pages.

Because the couple had been together for so long, have three kids together, and because there was a prenuptial agreement, its rational to assume that the separation would be peaceful and that they could move on with there separate lives, and cooperate for the benefits of their kids.

But divorce seems to be an event where some women tend to raise custodial conflicts to gain control over the children and money from their former husbands. The behavior is sort under something called relational aggressiveness.

Relational aggression is a typical female phenomenon (Crick and Grotpeter, 1995; Hyde, 2005) and is typically inherited from the mother by Nature - nurture.

That is of course very tragic, because of the father-effect on children's emotional and social adjustment and cognitive development (Ardila, 2008, Ardila et al. 2018; Adornetti, 2016; Barkley, 2001; Diamond and Lee, 2011; LaFlamme et al. 2012; Olsson, 2022; Macrae, 2021; Pribram, 1973; Rollè et al. 2019; Sethna et al. 2017; Vieno et al. 2009, 2014; Österberg, 2004), a concept which can be collapsed into the executive functions - a plethora of mental sub-sets which unpack and have major developments during early age (Baker et al. 2020; Barkley, 2001; Baumrind, 1966; Farran och Formby, 2011;Gopnik, 2016; Hart och Risley, 1995; LaFlamme et al. 2012; Olsson, 2022).

Little is know about what happened with the kids, but Ms. Baumgartner challenged the PA in a traditional way - demanding more money on the argument she had been used to a the life-style of Mr. Costner.

In many ways this case is similar to the divorce between Johnny depp and Amber Heard, where Ms Heard accused Mr Depp of causing her PTSD in the effort to earn money from him. After an evaluation from forensic psychologist Dr. Shannon Curry, Ms Heard was diagnosed with Borderline and Histrionic Personality Disorder (McGrath and Reynolds, 2024; Ruffalo (2024) based on Complex childhood trauma. She was also the perpetrator of domestic violence (Österberg, 2022). Maternal borderline personality disorder symptoms are associated with women's relational aggressiveness/custodial conflicts (Zalewski et al. 2014).

Ms. Baumgartner has not yet accused Mr. Costner of any such thing, but she has suggested that he was involved in extra-marital affairs. That's part of psychological violence and relational aggressiveness.

But greed doesn't pay off. After challenging the prenuptial agreement, the monthly child-support was reduced to 67,000 dollars. Still not bad, but probably disappointing for Ms. Baumgartner.

Conclusion. ivorse is an industry feeding people working in the social service and the legal system, either as lawyers and judged. In the US, like Sweden, these people typically (75%) conform to the idea to isolate the kids from their father, and putting the woman into a position of sole custody. Because children who grow up with both parents or the father have better emotional and social adjustment and cognitive development (executive functioning) compared to children who grow up with the mother, this systemic conflict against father is a bad.
